The death of a skyscraper (and the invention of a new one)

So..... a little problem... We love the blue and white skyscraper we built - problem is, this is pretty much what we found in the box when we arrived in Canberra after a four-hour drive...

Ok, so not exactly what we were left with but it felt like it...

We had out doubts about the structural integrity as we were building it, but we thought we'd give it a go. We managed to get it back together overnight in time to show it at the Canberra Brick Show:

The blue and white skyscraper we had to re-build the night before the 2017 Canberra Brick Expo after in fell apart in transit.

As much as we loved the this building, having it fall apart every time we move it is not an option. We need to design a new, more robust structure. The challenge is to use the existing bricks while keep the same height and scale.

After a few attempts here's what we came up with:

The blue and white skyscraper (Mark II) - top view.

The blue and white skyscraper (Mark II) - back view.

The blue and white skyscraper (Mark II) - side view.

The blue and white skyscraper (Mark II) - detail.

Here's what it looks like in the full display. It probably needs an additional level though...

Looking at the scale of the extra-large MOCs, this building could be taller to balance out the size of the Empire State Building. So we added another level:

The original height of the new blue and white skyscraper (Mark II)

The blue and white skyscraper (Mark II) - front view with an extra level on top.
