Large Buildings
Having exhausted the 'suggested' buildings from the Town Plan set, we're still a few buildings short. If we are to fill our two baseboards with modernist Lego buildings we'll need to find inspiration from other vintage collectors, past Lego promotional flyers and real buildings. Looks like lots of fun Lego times to come...
The Red and White Apartments
We have built as many of the suggested builds and the stand-alone sets as we could; next on the list is to try our hand at some of our own creations. The first build has been inspired by some artwork we found online.
The Police Station
Searching the internet for design inspiration (both Lego and real-life architecture), we found some great pics on a forum on www.eurobricks.com. We loved the design of the Maersk building and thought we'd have a go at re-interpreting, albeit in a smaller size. (Mainly due to a shortage of the 2 x 2 white windows in the collection.)
The Blue Apartments
We had finally completed all our buildings that would sit on the two baseboards. We knew we have something special that Lego fans might be interested in seeing, but what do we do with it? We decided we ahould apply to display the collection at Brickvention in Melbourne.
The Sanitarium Factory
We're happy to report we have been accepted to display at Melbourne Brickvention in January 2017. We only have one large building for the rear of the display so be best get cracking! In celebration of our upcoming display at the Melbourne Brickvention, we'll have a go at a famous modernist building located in Victorian: the Sanitarium Factory in Warburton.
Our free-build: The Hospital
After months of following poor instructions and squinting at poor quality images online, we completed 16 buildings that were loyal to the era of the Town Plan set. We now need one final building to complete the display. Our appetite to go to Bricklink yet again is limited so we'll use our remaining pieces to make a completely original building.
