The Department Store

In the next village up the mountain from our place is the Blue Mountains Council Chambers. It’s a fabulous tribute to modernity and functionality. Built in 1961 it has a detailed but quintessential modernist facade, complete with blue tinted glass and blue tiles running up the front left wall.

Blue Mountains Council Chambers, New South Wales

The council chambers c.1977, much less greenery than today and before the gardens out the front were developed.

While not intending to be a hundred percent faithful to the real-life building, the features will come up well in a Lego recreation - we’ll call it our Department Store.
