The Tiny House

What is becoming clear is an impending shortage of Lego pieces. Like reliving our childhood Lego days, we could see our grand vision for a large building project being thwarted by a lack of bricks. But what is around in 2016 that was not in 1962? www.bricklink.com

We still have heaps of bricks left, but we are needing to top up smaller pieces that probably ended up in the vacuum cleaner or the dustpan, as well as some extra windows for when we get to our larger buildings. Not really knowing precisely what is required to complete the rest of the project we'll purchase additional pieces such as transparent 1 x 2s and 1 x 4s, and red, blue and white 2 x 8s, 2 x 6s, 2 x 4s, 1 x 8s, 1 x 6s and 1 x 4s. We'll also grab as many white windows as we can - we seem to have a really good supply of the red windows, but not as many white ones. We also get some 4 x 8 white plates, where possible, with a waffle base.

We'll order, and wait for the packages to zoom their way from the Europe and the US...

In the meantime, let's turn our attention to the smaller buildings - we can knock these off with pieces that are currently on hand.

Let's start with the tiny house:

Blurred but we could make out the design from the flyer included in the collection.

The house layer - pretty straight forward (we assumed both sides are identical).

The house layer - the end view (both ends are identical). The lean and structural integrity will be resolved when the roof is added (hopefully!).

The roof taking shape - side view

The roof taking shape - end view

The end product.

And we love it so much we made two  - the fence was a nice addition by my young son (strictly speaking this is from the late 1960s – but let's not get to pedantic – it is, after all, a creative process...).
